CPAC 2007 Day 2 ~ Conservative Pulse

Cpacsticker_2In spite of the droves of "Mitt's Kidz" and "Brownies" that are at every turn ready to slap their respective candidate's stickers on the chests of the conference attendees, this (pictured left) has been a popular CPAC sticker, according to Michelle Malkin.  LOTP sentiments, exactly!  It is clear that the conservative movement wants a conservative leader on a broad range of issues.

It seems the CPAC crowd is having a bit of schizophrenia though.  The crowd seemed mezmorized (according to Captain Ed) by Rudy Giuliani, inspite of the many policy differences they have with him, though there are mixed reports about this.

Cpacflip In addition, after giving a riveting right wing speech with hard punches at the Dems and some to McCain and Giuliani, Ann Coulter gave a shocking endorsement of Mitt Romney. This was particularly surprising, given her reasons against Giuliani, (paraphrasing) "if America has to choose between a pro-choice Democrat and a pro-choice Republican, we might as well hang it up as a nation."  Also, given that she even noted how in the past presidential primaries, she supported Pat Buchanan, Steve Forbes and Alan Keyes.  She defended her support of Romney by saying she particularly liked the fact that "he tricked liberals into voting for him."  Is this what we want in a President?  How are we to know he's not tricking conservatives into voting for him?  BTW, If you haven't seen "Multiple Choice Mitt" in action, you might not understand the dolphin on the left that just won't go away.

In Tancredo's speech today (which can be found here), he noted that there's been much talk on the campaign trail of "conversions".  He's glad to see candidates moving right but "conversions are supposed to happen on the road to Damascus, not the road to De Moines."

BTW, Is Brownback having a conversion on the illegal immigration issue?
